Barcelona wanted Chelsea star Willian to join them earlier this summer but, ultimately, missed out on the Brazil international.
They have since shelled out £36million to sign Bordeaux star Malcom, who arrives to provide competition for Ousmane Dembele on the wing.
Barcelona are now turning their attentions to a midfielder with PSG star Adrien Rabiot.
Claims from Spain have suggested the club have made the player their top target to replace Andres Iniesta, who quit for Japanese side Vissel Kobe earlier this summer.
And Spanish newspaper Marca claim to have intel from a Barcelona insider.
They supposedly feel a deal for Rabiot will be difficult due to PSG’s reluctance to sell.
And they compare it to Barcelona’s failed pursuit of Willian, who is also attracting interest from Manchester United.
Marca quote the Barca source as saying: “It will be the same as Willian.
“These teams do not sell.”
Barcelona have failed to lure Marco Verratti and Angel Di Maria away from PSG in recent years.
And they also face a battle to sign Frankie De Jong, who is supposedly resigned to staying at Ajax.
Meanwhile, PSG boss Thomas Tuchel has claimed Rabiot will decide his future as links to Barcelona rumble on.
“Of course I would love him to stay. Everyone has seen his potential and there’s still room to grow,” Tuchel told reporters.
“In relation to his contract situation, he’s the one who has the last word. Everything depends on him.
“He can stay and adapt to our style or leave the club and try a new experience.”
