The infamous “ghouls” have sent shivers down ghost hunter’s spines ever since they were first spotted in the 1980s.
There were fears they had returned in 2014 when an expert spotted a child with jet-black eyes round the marshy countryside of Cannock Chase, Staffordshire.
Nightmarish clips have continued to circulate on the web and now a famous investigator has revealed what he believes they could be.
Barri Ghai has spent years studying the paranormal and is currently appearing in his latest TV series Help My House is Haunted.
In an exclusive chat with Daily Star Online, he said: “I’ve heard so many stories about these Black Eyed Children or Black Eyed Ghosts.
“There are pictures circulating across the internet but I haven’t seen one with my own eyes.
“I think I’d freak out totally if I came face-to-face with a child with black eyes staring at me.
“I honestly believe it’s a bit of folklore, a bit of urban legend.
“You know how mass hysteria when someone says something and someone says something else – it spreads like wildfire.
“There are these theorists that believe they’re either spirits, extraterrestrial beings or demonic activities.
“I don’t know if they exist.”
Help! My House is Haunted is airing weekly on Fridays, 10pm on TV channel Really.
